Players from all age levels have been chosen to regional teams

We are pleased to announce that Extreme players from all age levels have been chosen to regional teams that will participate in US Lacrosse national tournaments this summer.

Starting with high school, Katie Hubbert has been selected to the team that will represent Northern California at U.S. Lacrosse's national high school tournament. She was was selected after a fiercely competitive tryout attended by 80 of the region's best high school players who had been nominated by their high school varsity and club coaches. She and 19 other California players will compete with teams from throughout the nation at the National Women's Division Tournament in Baltimore during the Memorial Day weekend. A junior at Presentation, Katie is co-captain of San Jose Force, one of Extreme's two high school teams. For four straight years, a player on the Extreme has been chosen for the national tournament -- an unusual achievement. Katie's co-captains in the Force, Molly Fensterwald and Vanessa Royle, went to the nationals the past two years.

Gretchen Rodenberger was selected to be NCJLA's team that will compete at the U-15 National Championships in Baltimore in July. U.S. Lacrosse has made this a more competitive format this year, and Gretchen will be playing with the best in her age group.

A record four Extreme players were chosen to go to Kings Island, Ohio, for the U-13 national festival in June on a team that will be coached by Amy McCleary, who will be leading a day camp in San Jose this summer. The honors go to Cassie Angeles, Kylee Kiesow, Maddie Wells and Nichole Whipple.

We are proud not only of these girls and their achievements but of all the girls who tried out for all of these teams. There will be plenty of opportunities for post-season play in coming years, and we encourage all girls who love lacrosse to take advantage of them.

It's a tribute to the girls' hard work and our excellent coaches that Extreme players are thriving at every level.

Congratulations, Ladies!
